Hannah’s Story

July 31, 2017
The Key2Free

I’ve been writing a lot of blog posts, as well as plenty of social media posts. That’s partially because it’s my job, but it’s also because I really care about reaching out to y’all. Since I’ve been bombarding your Facebook timelines, I wanted to share a bit about myself. This way, we’re not strangers. We truly care about being transparent at The Key2Free, and that includes each of us.

I’m Hannah. Yeah. That’s the biggest shocker. I’m a Senior at Texas A&M (WHOOP), and I’m studying Political Science. I’m not as crazy and goofy as I seem in writing; I’m actually worse. There’s a reason we choose to contain my personality in a 2D form. I love puppies, queso, Ronald Reagan, Jesus, and veterans. I fall asleep anywhere and everywhere. I’m a true hugger, and my hair is always messy.

Anyway, I have been involved with The Key2Free for years, and I am so disturbed by the stories I hear every day about trafficking. It’s terrifying, and it’s such an enormous problem. It can be pretty overwhelming, and I’ve been guilty of feeling like my contributions won’t ever be enough. Moreover, I’ve even felt unsure about what I could practically contribute. That’s when this internship presented itself.

I am now the marketing intern here, and I primarily work on social media, blog posts (the 2nd biggest shocker), writing newsletters, etc. I really enjoy learning about communication. I like helping people feel what I’m feeling and think what I’m thinking, and my favorite method for that is writing. If you happened to catch my live Facebook video a while back, you might understand why I prefer writing. I truly believe that one of the most predominant factors contributing to the rise of trafficking is that people don’t hear about it. I’ve talked to many people who do not even know what human trafficking is, because people don’t talk about it enough. When people do talk about it, they often make it confusing and interchange terms. I want to remedy that.

My goal at The Key2Free is to communicate with as many friends as possible, as simply as possible, and as effectively as possible. I want to be clear and honest about the crimes that are going on all around us, and I want to be helpful by giving y’all ways to contribute. I want to take care of the big questions for you and let you do your thing. We need the help of each and every one of you, and I want to give you all the information you might need to help us abolish human trafficking.

That’s why I’m here. I can’t wait to hear your story.
